Saving Money With Pets
Do It Yourself if You Can
There are plenty of luxuries out there, such as grooming visits and baths, that can actually be done from home. If you think about it, you will spend on average around twenty dollars or so just to have your pet bathed. Bathing your pet at home will not only save you the time and gas that it takes to get them to the groomer, but it will also only cost you a few cents for the water that you use and a couple bucks to purchase the pet soap that you will wash them with. Consider this as a great way to save money each month.
Look for Coupons for Pet Products
Pet food and supplies can prove to add up if you purchase them often. The best thing to do is look for coupons that will help you save money on the products that you purchase most often for your pets. You can look for coupons online, or in your local newspaper. Simply go to your favorite search engine and search for the products that you purchase for your pet. You are sure to find some great manufacturer’s coupons that will help you save money on these pet purchases each month.
Buy Discount Medications
When you have to get medications for your pets, you may want to talk to your veterinarian about discounted pet meds. You will find that many of the pet medications that are prescribed also come in a generic label. This means that you can save plenty of money on the medications that your pet requires. You can also save if you purchase certain medications, such as heartworm medication, in bulk. Talk to your veterinarian about this and see if it is a viable option for you.
Low Cost Pet Medical Care
There are sometimes low cost pet medical centers in your area. Look and see if there is a center in your area that offers this to those that need it. For instance, you can have your pet spayed or neutered for less if you go to one of these facilities. You will also find that you can purchase their vaccines for less at these clinics as well.
Discounted Pet Products
When it comes to the supplies that your pet needs such as toys, cages and bedding, you can often find these products at discounted prices when you shop in your local thrift store. Make sure that you do not rule this out as an option.
